The group was created to facilitate the sharing of helpful and useful information with dog owners.  This page will include some of the things that we have done or are planning on that front.

Often, behaviour is thought of as something which needs 'correcting', however, behaviour that is undesirable to us humans is often absolutely normal behaviour for dogs and what is acceptable to one person is a fast track to a rescue organisation for another.  We prefer the WTF approach ("What's the Function" (of the dogs behaviour) and no, it is never world domination), and then think about how we can influence the dog to want to behave otherwise.

There are many great training organisations and successful trainers in the island and all of them have something to offer.  If you have been in the Jersey Dog Forum Facebook Group for a while you will know that in line with modern dog training organisations, we do not promote any training method which relies on fear, intimidation, pain or physical force in order to change a dog's behaviour.

Admin will only share up to date information (see the 'about us' section to see some of what we do to keep ourselves up to date on current best practice).
